Sustainable Fashion Apps
Good on You
Price | Free to download
Perfect for you if | you’re looking to buy brand new
Good On You is the best source of ethical fashion knowledge that I have come across. Not only can you check the impact your favourite brand has on the environment, you can also find alternatives, learn more about ethical shopping and get exclusive offers.
There are over 3,000 brands to browse and search. Each listed brand is given a rating out of five, from ‘We Avoid’ (1) to ‘Great’ (5). There are individual scores for the brands impact on people, the planet, and animals.
If the brand you’re looking for isn’t listed you can click a button and submit it to be rated. Many brands featured (particularly fast fashion) have a low rating. In which case you can use the app to find sustainable alternatives. You can even send a message to brands urging them to do better.
Good on You is one of my favourite fashion apps and an absolute must have!

Save Your Wardrobe helps you to plan your outfits whatever the occasion or weather. The app digitalises all your clothes and accessories to help you reconnect with what you own. You can also use the app to care for what you own by booking repairs, cleaning, upcycling and donations services.
The app uses Artificial Intelligence to provide you with insights on how to make the most of your wardrobe. Just take a photo of the item and the app tags features like the brand, colour and category. you can then access your wardrobe using any device.
The insights also include brand ratings from Good on You so you can find out how sustainable your items are.
I have a blog post coming soon with more info on this app as I digitise my wardrobe and talk you through the process in more detail.
nuw
Price | Free to download
Perfect for you if | you want to borrow or swap your wardrobe
Swap and borrow clothing and accessories from the hottest trends to vintage, one off finds.
To borrow just upload items to the app and lend short term. If you are borrowing then wear, return and repeat, which is perfect for special occasions.
If you want to swap then upload your items to get gold or silver tokens and then spend those tokens on the items you love. You don’t even need to directly swap with another member. All you need to do is pay for delivery.
Borrowing clothing is a brilliant way to experiment with your style. And swapping gives the items you no longer wear a new lease of life.
Nuw also hosts events like local meetups, swap shops, and parties across the UK and Ireland. I believe there is a Cambridge branch if you happen to be local to me.

It is very easy to open your own Depop shop and upload items straight from your phone. You can even follow other buyers and sellers.
Connect your PayPal account to receive payments when your items sell. Depop charges sellers a 10% fee on each item sold.
Searching for what you’re looking for is simple whether it’s vintage jeans or a specific brand, and you can save your favourites into Collections.
Vestiaire Collective
Price | Free to download
Perfect for you if | you’re looking for pre-owned designer
Vestiaire Collective is a global fashion community where you can buy and sell pre-owned designer items from brands like Chanel, Hermes, Rolex, Gucci, Cartier and many more.
Each week thousands of pieces are uploaded to the site including clothes, shoes, jewellery, watches and handbags.
Using the app you can browse the site or search for specific items. I have previously bought a Gucci scarf and Givenchy Antigona from Vestiaire.
Once items have sold they are verified by a team of experts before they are sent on to you.
If you find something you like you can add it to your wish list and create alerts if the price is reduced. You can also create alerts for when a certain piece lands on the site.
If you’re looking to sell unwanted items you can list them in less than 60 seconds – I have done this with a pair of sunglasses. Just take a photo and fill in the information on it. You can manage everything from the app like keeping in contact with potential buyers.
Are there any sustainable fashion apps that you think I’ve missed? I’d also love to know if you use any of the apps that I’ve mentioned!
