Life’s a Catwalk has gradually shifted towards sustainable fashion and highlighting the impact the fashion industry has on the environment. That being said I appreciate that not everyone can afford to step away from fast fashion and spend more on clothing if they are looking to buy brand new. In which case we should be focusing on only buying things that we truly love and know we will get a lot of wear from. I think everyone knows that I have a real love of designer fashion, but I can’t always justify the cost. Recently I have been noticing that River Island has been killing it with the designer dupes!

Now I realise that River Island is a fast fashion brand but as I previously mentioned we should all be making more considered purchases rather than buying something and only wearing it a handful of times. My last post on the cost per wear formula is helpful in getting you to think about spending your money wisely.
I know there are people who aren’t fans of designer dupes. I have previously written a post that asks “when do designer dupes become plagarism?” And I think this is something to consider. We need to know where to draw the line. I definitely do not agree with large brands directly ripping off independent designers. However I think there is a big difference between that and taking inspiration from something to create a new item. I’d love to know what you think.
I am a big fan of the Bottega Veneta mules but I just don’t think I would get the wear out of them to be able to justify the cost. The woven mules from River Island are a brilliant dupe without being a direct copy.
There are a few pieces I spotted on the website that give me all the Louis Vuitton vibes. The first is the embossed block heel mules which remind me of the Louis Vuitton revival mules.
When the Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette bag came out I saw so many bloggers and YouTubers with it. I’m personally not really a fan, I just don’t think that it’s my style. The thing with dupes is that they are the perfect way to try out a new look without spending huge amounts of money.
It isn’t just accessories that you can find dupes for on the website. There are also some great clothing pieces including this trench that gives a nod to the iconic Burberry trench.
I’m a big fan of tailoring and the structured style of the Balmain blazers. I think River Island have a great blazer that hints at the Balmain style without copying it.
