I’ve seen By Terry appearing on the social media of some of my favourite content creators for several years now. However, I’ve never taken the plunge and bought any myself. That was until this pandemic made me think sod it, treat yourself!
What had made me hold back in the past was the higher price tag. While I have spent money on high end clothing I’ve been a bit reluctant to shop beauty that is also a higher price point (having said that I do own the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation which is amazing!). I was encourage to buy now mainly because By Terry had a really good sale on and at the time you could get 50% off selected products.
Is By Terry Worth The Price Tag?
If you’re anything like me you always feel like you need to justify your purchases. Here on Life’s a Catwalk there is an emphasis on quality over quantity so I don’t have a problem with spending that bit more on an item if I know that it’s worth the money.
So, what did I buy? I picked three items off the website (because three is the magic number).
Tea to Tan
First up was Tea to Tan which is a face and body instant bronzer spray. The tea infused liquid bronzer has two effects – a matte finish or just shake the bottle for a shimmering finish. The spray is infused with tea extracts and active fruit essence to protect the skin for aging.
I used a foundation brush to apply Tea to Tan. For may face I sprayed it onto the brush to then apply it, but for my body I sprayed straight onto my skin and buffed it in. It was easy to create an even finish with no streaking and you can really layer it up to get the kind of coverage you want.
By Terry suggest apply a few drops with your everyday moisturiser to give your face a radiant glow.
I also found it easy to wash off and as it doesn’t contain tanning agents your skin goes back to its natural appearance.
Ombre Blackstar
Ombre Blackstar is an eyeshadow, eyeliner and highlighter all in one. I went for #22 Sunny Flash which is a beautiful bronze shade that I thought would look goodwith blue eyes.
It contains Tahitian black pearls extracts that are rich in fortifying calcium and anti-aging proteins. It also features light-reflecting properties for a glossy sheen.
Ombre Blackstar comes in six different long-lasting shades that make eyes look wider and brighter.
I found the eyeshadow really easy to layer up and you can smudge it with you fingertips to create more of a smokey eye look. Applying it to the inner corners of your eye really illuminates the whole area. I also used it under my eye as more of an eyeliner.
Hyaluronic Sheer Nude Plumping and Hydrating Lipstick
The final item on my By Terry shopping list was lipstick. The Hyaluronic Sheer Nude has an almost gel like consistency which immediately melts onto your lips. The lipstick smooths over fine lines and wrinkles whilst also protecting against UV damage.
It has a sheer finish which is perfect for everyday wear if you’re after a natural look. However, you can apply several coats if you prefer more coverage.
As you can see the Tea to Tan has really transformed my skin. I’m naturally super pale (the before photo isn’t helped by the sun bouncy off my casper skin) and I really have a natural looking glow after using it. It is so quick to use and by using a brush I could apply more to the areas of my face that the sun would hit. The Ombre Blackstar definitely has staying power and if anything I found it harder to remove than regular eyeshadow – probably down to its creamy texture. I can only describe the Sheer Nude Lipstick as like my lips but better.
I can see why By Terry carries a higher price tag as the products are such good quality. The packaging is also beautiful designed and feels expensive. While I probably couldn’t afford to have a makeup bag full of the brand, I would definitely treat myself to more.
Oh I totally love By Terry especially the Ombre Blackstar sticks and the CC Serum.. You should try it x
