Is SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense The Best SPF For Your Face

Is SkinCeuticals Ultra Facial Defense The Best SPF For Your Face contains a gifted product.

As someone who is very fair-skinned I know that I need to be careful not to get sunburnt. I have zero interest in trying to get a tan from the sun, I would much rather use fake tan, and would obviously like to avoid skin cancer and prematurely ageing my skin.

I have found myself out in the sun more this year. Probably down to isolation and having the opportunity to be out in the garden enjoying the lovely weather. I’m applying suncream more than I would but I’m not keen on slathering it on my face. These products always tend to be really greasy, thick and leave a white finish.

My skincare routine involves moisturiser that contains SPF50+ which I wear all year round. Obviously you need to keep applying sun protection throughout the day so I’ve been looking for a separate product that I can apply to my face.

SkinCeuticals

Ultra Facial Defense SPF 50 protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays which cause premature skin ageing. The sunscreen has a lightweight formula that is easily absorbed. It has been formulated with state-of-the-art UV filters which help prevent UV induced collagen breakdown and dark spots.

Ingredients

One of the key ingredients is titanium dioxide which is a natural mineral UV filter. It neutralises harmful rays that hit your skin so that they don’t enter the skin. Also present are shea butter and glycerine. As well as being a hydrating ingredient that helps skin retain moisture, glycerine provides a protective barrier so new skin cells can develop underneath.

Patented ingredients Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL are also listed. Mexoryl is a modern chemical UV filter which measn that it won’t disintegrate when it comes into contact with the suns rays (like old chemical filters) and it is allergy tested.

The Test

The sunscreen has a really nice silky texture that absorbs well into the skin. You don’t have to spend ages attempting to rub it in like most sunscreens. It doesn’t feel at all greasy which means you aren’t left with that horrible shiny look. If anything it reminds me more of skincare rather than a sunscreen. The sunscreen doesn’t really have a fragrance to it which is nice, I’m not a fan of heavily perfumed products.

I applied three layers throughout the day without any problems. I have naturally dry skin and I would say the sunscreen is very moisturising – I don’t know what it would be like if you have very oily skin. There was no sign of it developing a white layer on my skin, I just looked like I had a bit of a natural glow.

I intend to keep using the Ultra Facial Defense throughout summer and have already been recommending it to friends.

Sustainability

When buying from a brand I always like to take a look at the initiatives they support and the impact they have socially and environmentally. Skinceuticals has sponsored the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) since 2010. This was founded in 2007 and since then the MRA has awarded more than $38 million to 97 research programs that work to make advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of melanoma.

SkinCeuticals is committed to reducing their use of shipping cartons and corrugate material. In 2016, they modernised their fulfilment center to use wind turbines to improve their carbon neutrality.
