The Best Winter Hair Care Products

The Best Winter Hair Care Products is a paid for sponsored post with Melissa Timperley Salons.

As someone with bleach blonde highlights my hair is dry at the best of times. Throw in cold weather and central heating and it just doesn’t stand a chance. There have been a few products I have been regularly using since December last year which have really made a difference to the condition of my hair.

Winter Hair Care Products

The Body Shop Banana Range

When everyone was going on about banana hair care products I thought it was just another trend. I popped into The Body Shop for the first time in years and spotted their Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner. They smelled amazing but would they live up to the hype?

The products have been enriched with ripe Community Trade organic banana puree from Ecuador. Suitable for normal to dry hair they are 100% vegetarian and formulated without silicones. I found that they really do make a difference to how nourished and soft my hair feels. A little goes a long way so even the tester size bottles lasted me ages. I’ve seen that The Body Shop also do a matching hair mask so I’m going to add that into my hair care routine.

Hair Oil

Hair oil is great for those with naturally dry hair, bleached hair or if you have balayage hair colour as you can easily apply it just to the ends of your hair without the risk of making the roots greasy. I tend to use the L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil if my hair is feeling really over processed. It does a great job of smoothing over the ends and making them feel nice and healthy.

Scalp Oil

Maybe once or twice a month I will use a scalp oil. I occasionally get eczema on my scalp which can be aggravated by the cold and central heating. My sister originally bought me the L’Occitane Soothing Scalp Oil a few years ago and I’ve been using it since then. You apply it directly on to the scalp before your shampoo. Leave it for two minutes and then massage it to activate micro-circulation. It can be used 2 or 3 times a week but I don’t feel like I need to do it that frequently.

Heat Protection

99% of the time I will straighten my hair so heat protection is really important. Without it my hair would be incredibly dry and brittle. Over the years I have used a lot of heat protector sprays but at the moment I’m really enjoying using the L’Oreal Mythic Oil. It has a cream like consistency that creates a protective veil over your hair. I also really like the smell as it reminds me of being pampered in a salon.

Are there any products you swear by in winter? I’d love to know what they are.

I love the Body Shop banana range. If you like the shampoo and conditioner, I think you will like the mask too!

I can’t believe I hadn’t been in The Body Shop for so long, everything smells amazing! I love the banana range so I think I’m going to have to get the mask too.
