Are Tanning Serums As Good As A Mousse?

Gifted product – Skinny Tan Wonder Serum

I know what you’re thinking, didn’t she just do a blog post on Skinny Tan? Yes, you’re right, I did. But, it’s not my fault that my favourite tanning brand have brought out two new products in quick succession. If you missed my previous post on the Pro Tan (it’s amazing) then go and check it out. Anyway, back to why we’re here. Skinny Tan have just sent me their brand new tanning serum and I’m interested to see what it’s like. I’ve never used a fake tan serum before as I prefer the formula of a mousse so I’m looking forward to the finished result.

Skinny Tan Wonder Serum

You should know all about Skinny Tan by now, but the brand is cruelty free and vegan friendly. The Wonder Serum, made from 95% naturally derived ingredients, has a silky formula that not only tans but is also anti-aging. The results should last for up to ten days.

The Wonder Serum is ideal for first time tanners and tan-a-holics like me.

The Application

I was unsure how well this would go if I’m honest. Luckily the serum comes out as a dark brown colour so you can see where you have been. I found it a bit harder to apply than a mousse and felt like I was dragging it around slightly. It leaves your skin a light golden colour with a bit of a shimmery finish. Within a minute or so the tan was 100% dry and I was able to get dressed. My skin actually felt like I had just applied a moisturiser. The bottle says the tan should develop in 6-8 hours so I slept with it on. Having said this is a leave-on tan so there is no need to wash it off.

The Result

The morning after application I had a shower as usual. Normally after tanning you shower off the guide colour but with the Wonder Serum you don’t lose a lot of colour. I am actually a darker brown that I thought I would be, which I don’t think really shows up in the photo. When it comes to tanning my hands I usually end up with patches around my knuckles where my hands are very dry. This didn’t happen with the wonder serum.  So far it has been on for a week and it still looks really good and has worn evenly. As I cleanse my face twice a day it has faded quite a lot but with makeup on it isn’t noticeable.

Overall I think if I was going to be wearing this tan all the time I would have to put on two layers as I like to be very dark.

I’ve used it a few times since this post and I actually think it’s easier to tan hands with this than with mousse x

It’s really handy for last minute tanning as you can apply it, get dressed and go straight out!

Practice makes perfect! Making sure your skin is prepped really helps so exfoliating and moisturising is key. Good luck!
