John Lewis & Partners SS19 Cambridge Blogger Event

I was invited along to an event held by John Lewis & Partners at the Grand Arcade store in Cambridge. I’ve previously been to other blogger events they have held but this one was a little bit different.

We arrived at the Brasserie to be greeted with a glass of fizz and tasty macaroons. The evening began with talks given by brands stocked in store starting with Coach, who sent ambassadors from their London store. They spoke to us about Coach’s history and showed off some of the beautiful bags that JL stock.

Next up was skincare and there were short presentations from REN Skincare, Evolve Beauty and Sarah Chapman London. The JL Personal Stylists then put on a fashion show for us featuring pieces from the SS19 collections. They’d even put together a ‘wishlist’ leaflet so we were able to identify any items that caught our eye. My favourite pieces would have to be the John Lewis & Partners Asymmetric Fold Midi Skirt in green and the AND/OR Avolene Kitten Heel Court Shoes in leopard print.

We then moved downstairs to the Beauty Studio where we spent the rest of the evening. We were able to speak to the brands that we heard from earlier in the evening and receive advice on products. There was even the option of a Sarah Chapman London facial! There were a couple of brands that I’d heard of before but didn’t know much about that I particularly enjoyed learning more from.

REN Skincare

In 2018 REN announced their Clean to Skin. Clean to Planet. initiative and pledged to become zero waste by 2021. This is a rather ambitious aim but they have been redeveloping their packaging so that it will be 100% recyclable. They have also created a bottle made from 100% recycled plastic. 20% of that has been collected from rivers and oceans around the world. As consumers becoming more aware of the impact our purchases make on the environment it’s great to see a brand doing their bit to help us make more ethical and sustainable choices. I really hope they achieve their goal.

Evolve Beauty

Evolve Beauty products are made by hand in Hertfordshire. They produce small amounts at a time to ensure that the antioxidants in the natural oils stay fresh. Evolve use recyclable glass and card packaging. Their products are 100% vegan, made from ingredients that are 100% cruelty-free. Evolve buy natural and organic ingredients as locally as possible from fair-trade and sustainable sources.
We were generously gifted goodie bags, one full of makeup, skincare, fragrance samples, haircare from JL. The other was a jewellery box from Coach. I am yet to make my way through each sample but there’s a great mix of well loved products and new pieces. I can’t wait to try them out. Thank you John Lewis for having me, I’m sure I’ll be back soon!
