Trying Out Femme Luxe

Contains gifted products from Femme Luxe

Femme Luxe is one of those brands that you see popping up time and time again on Instagram. I actually follow a few people who have worked with the brand and thought they looked really good in their clothes. When Femme Luxe contacted me to see if I would like to choose four items from their site I was keen to give them a go.

Femme Luxe

When checking out their website the first thing that struck me was that the models all have a certain body type. All of the girls are very curvy and that just isn’t how I look. I did wonder how the clothes would look on someone who is rather short with a standard size 8 body. I have narrow shoulders and narrow hips so would I end up with material bagging around me?

Rose Knitted Ribbed Long Sleeved Midi Dress – Ellie

I absolutely loved the colour of this midi dress and have never tried a knitted style. I was worried that as I’m only 5 ft 3 it would be way too long for me. The model is wearing perspex heels and a snake effect bag but I’ve chosen to style it with my black All Saints ankle boots and a leather jacket.

Fit wise the length isn’t actually too bad. I went for a S/M which is the smallest size and works out as a 8/10. I do feel like it is a bit big for me but the fact that it’s stretchy and ribbed means I could have a big lunch and not worry about being uncomfortable. The only thing I’m not keen on is how tight the neck is. I hate having things touch my neck so if I’m wearing a roll neck it has to be loose. The knit is quite heavy which makes it feel more expensive than it is.

Neon Lime Knitted Oversized Polo Neck Jumper – Polly

The colour of this jumper is insane, it’s just so vibrant. When the description says oversized, it really means it. I went for a size S/M (8/10) again and it is absolutely huge. It is supposed to be big and maybe it’s that I’m just not used to it, but I feel like it drowns me a little. I went for pairing it with my leather look trousers and black boots again. The outfit looks great as a whole and my sister already has her eye on this jumper. I was impressed with the quality of the jumper given the price point.

Dusky Pink With White Stripe Lounge Wear Set – Lexi

This lounge wear set looks like something you would see on an Instagram model but I love it. It’s perfect for throwing on at the weekend and wearing around the house. I went for an 8 and I’m happy with the overall fit, I’m glad you can select specific sizes for this piece. I feel like I’m probably a bit old to be pulling off a crop top but I’m not too bothered. The fabric wasn’t quite what I was expecting as I thought it would feel more like jogging/ tracksuit fabric. Out of all of the items this felt the cheapest made.

Black High Neck Ribbed Jumpsuit – Yasmine

I have saved the best ’til last. This jumpsuit has to be my favourite piece in the order. It is incredibly long even with high heels but I would have it taken up. Otherwise I love the fit and the fact you can cinch the waist in. Instead of the waist tie it comes with you could even switch that out for a belt. This is such a great outfit for dressing up and down and would be easy to take from a day to an evening look. You could even layer it up with a roll neck or thin long sleeved knit underneath.

Final Thoughts

Overall I’m impressed with the quality of the items given their price point. I would have liked the lounge wear set to have been in a thicker, jogger type fabric but that’s just me being fussy. If I had to pick fault with anything it would be that most items you need to select in S/M or M/L. A XS/S option would also be nice as I felt like I would need to size down. I also find it a bit odd that a M/L is a 12/14. As far as I’m concerned a 14 is an average size and not a large.
