I’ve been following Harley Street Skin Care on Twitter and Instagram for quite a while now. I loved the look of their packaging and the Harley Street name just screams high quality. I was given the chance to try out a few of their products and I couldn’t wait. I’m always looking to switch up my skin care routine and find that amazing, must have product.
Harley Street Skin Care
Harley Street Skin Care combines the experience and knowledge of Dr. Aamer Khan who is one of the UK’s leading cosmetic and non-surgical procedure experts and Lesley Reynolds Khan who is a skincare professional, beauty expert and author with over 20 years experience in anti-ageing skin therapy. They founded the highly respected, private Harley Street Skin Clinic on the most famous medical street in the world.
The brand features products that have been derived from natural and scientific ingredients which have been proven to target all skin types and skin issues.
Products
Daily Cleanser
The first product I received was the cleanser which gently deep cleanses the skin by removing dead skin cells. It leaves your face feeling fresh and soft. The cleanser features botanical ingredients which provide anti-ageing properties, calm sensitive skin, moisturise and nourish. Apply it to damp skin, massage and then remove with a damp face cloth. Rinse the skin well and pat dry with a towel. Use the cleanser twice a day for the best results.
I always like to take a look at the ingredients of a product because we should all be more aware of what we’re putting on our skin. Aside from water, this cleaner contains Laureth-4 which is polyoxyether of lauryl alcohol, a clear colourless liquid. It helps the product mix and dissolve in water, and creates a nice cleansing foam. Without it the cleanser would be hard to rinse off.
Next up is Propylene Glycol which is common in beauty products. It is a man-made organic alcohol that attracts water and enhances the appearance of skin by restoring suppleness.
Triethanolamine is a thick, colourless liquid that helps water-soluble and oil-soluble ingredients blend together. It is often used to control the pH of products. Those with sensitive skin can be allergic to this so I would suggest testing on a small area first. I’ve been known to have the odd random reaction to things and I was completely fine.
Firming Serum
The firming serum contains a cocktail of anti-oxidants which help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve elasticity and moisturise for younger looking skin. Apply it over your face and neck, avoiding around your eyes. Use the serum morning and evening before your moisturiser.
One particular ingrediant caught my eye and that was Ascorbyl Palmitate. This is absorbed into the skin, delivering the benefits of Vitamin C. These benefits include producing collagen and preventing wrinkles. What concerns me is the link to Palm Oil so I would love to know if Harley Street Skin Care use sustainably sourced palm oil.
Oil Free Moisturiser
The oil free moisturiser has a lightweight formula that helps to maintain moisture levels. It is rich in vitamins, anti-oxidants and kelp extract. You should apply it over your face and neck in upward motions, morning and evening.
Some of the ingredients contained are Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride which is derived from glycerin and coconut oil, Corallina Officinalis Extract which is an algae that reduces redness, Cucumis Melo Fruit Extract (melon) as an anti-oxidant and Citrus Sinensis Peel Oil Expressed (sweet orange) which is anti-bacterial.
How I Got On
I love the consistency of the cleanser that is almost lotion like. It has a silky feeling to it which gives the impression that it is moisturising your skin. Most of all, my face felt very clean afterwards which I particularly enjoyed in the evenings, like the cleanser had washed the day away.
You only need a small amount of the serum as a little goes a long way. My face definitely felt smoother and more even after using it. My skin easily absorbed the moisturiser and it doesn’t leave a greasy film which is something that I hate. No-one wants their makeup sliding around on their face because of their skin care.
Overall I was really impressed with the products as I like the fresh scent and each one does what it says it will do. My skin feels smoother and I love how clean each product makes my face feel. The price point is also very affordable which goes to show you don’t need to spend a fortune to get good quality products. I do feel like it is a shame that a couple of palm oil related ingredients are present as that does make a big difference to me when I come to choose a product. Palm oil is the most widely consumed vegetable oil on the planet it’s in everything from food and beauty products to cleaning products. I hope that brands, if they aren’t already, look to using sustainably sourced palm oil in the future or find other alternatives.
