Everyone likes to look amazing and fabulous, but the price of looking at your best all the time can be high. Clothes, shoes, makeup, accessories, salon appointments. It all adds up. Even if you are moving away from the Instagram trends, and are wearing less makeup in your daily looks, the price of the products themselves doesn’t change. Below are a few tips to help add that little extra something to your beauty routine without costing you a penny.
Get your beauty sleep
You may be more interested in staying up partying or getting that assignment finished because you left it to the last minute again, but sleep is an incredibly important part of your beauty routine. Why use makeup to hide dark circles and bags under your eyes when you can just not have them. When you sleep, your body is able to recharge and repair. When you don’t get enough sleep, your immune system suffers, leaving you open to illness, and your skin starts to look pale and dehydrated. Make sure your body is working at its best by getting at least six hours of sleep per night, but preferably eight.
A smile costs nothing
It may be an old line, but it’s true. Looking after your teeth and taking regular trips to the Dentist is one of the easiest ways to keep you looking your best. Nothing makes a bright red lipstick pop more than a beautiful set of pearly whites shining through. Get a good quality toothbrush, and use toothpaste that protects as well as whitens. If you are a coffee or red wine lover, you may need to invest in something a little stronger to combat the staining that can occur. Avoid home whitening kits though, they are usually quite harmful to teeth and can damage the enamel, meaning that your teeth won’t be as strong as they should be. Make sure to use an antibacterial mouthwash and floss too. You’ll be glad you did when you start getting compliments about your dazzling smile.
This may sound like an odd one, but your posture can alter the effect of an outfit a lot. If you are tall and feel self-conscious about that, or are particularly blessed in the bra department, then you can find yourself slouching and hunching forward. Not only is this bad for your back and can create knots and tightness, but it isn’t allowing you to be the best version of yourself. If you’re tall, own it. Don’t slouch down in the hope that others don’t notice your height. If you are large-chested, even if you feel self-conscious, stand tall and own it. You are beautiful the way you are and should view every part of your body as your best asset. From the tips of your toes right up to that gorgeous mane of hair.
By far the best fashion accessory that you can wear is confidence. Wear your clothes and your makeup in the full knowledge that you look awesome, and any looks from passing strangers are because they admire the way you hold yourself. Think of all the female beauty icons, from Marilyn Monroe right up to Jennifer Lawrence. They all had confidence in themselves and who they are. So be brave and unapologetically you.
Hopefully, these tips have helped you to realise that although clothes, shoes, and makeup are part of your beauty regime and overall look, there are other, far more important aspects to consider too.
