There have been a few products that I have been using over and over again this year and so I thought it would be nice to share them with you. These beauty favourites are a mix of skin care, hair care and makeup bits and pieces.
Beauty Favourites
Skin Care
St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub
This was more of a rediscovery this year. I used this scrub all the time as a teenager, I don’t know why I stopped. I tend to use it once or twice a week and find that it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. This means that my makeup goes on much better and it stays looking good for longer.
Super Facialist Vitamin E Serum
This serum has probably been my best purchase this year. I have really noticed a difference in how hydrated my skin is since using it. It combines Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid which boosts collagen synthesis and enhances the appearance of your skin. I attend an event at a skin clinic and was told that Vitamin E is one of the best things to use on your skin.
Simple Eye Cream and Night Cream
I think that Simple products are very underrated. I also use the eye makeup remover and micellar water and I wouldn’t use anything else. The cream absorbs well into my skin which is great as I hate any residue being left behind. When I go to be I want a night cream that is not perfumed as I can’t stand the smell when I’m trying to sleep. This makes the Simple products perfect for me.
Glossier Balm Dotcom
I’ve only bought this the once but I will definitely be repurchasing. I struggle at this time of year with keeping my lips and hands moisturised. It must be a combination of the cold weather and central heating. I bought the mint version of the Balm Dotcom and I love it. It smells great and goes on clear. I put it on my lips and hands before I go to bed and also put a thin layer on before my lipstick.
Skinny Tan Pre Tan Primer
The Pre Tan Primer is my go to exfoliator after I was sent it by Skinny Tan with some tan to review. It is amazing. No exfoliator has made my skin feel so smooth. It creates the perfect base for tanning. Even if you don’t use fake tan I would still recommend it as an exfoliator.
Skinny Tan Express Mousse
If you are a frequent visitor to Life’s a Catwalk then you will know I discovered Skinny Tan after they kindly sent me the Express Mousse to try out. It is hands down my favourite tan and once of my biggest beauty favourites of the year. I have struggled with tan in the past as some brands don’t seem to take to my skin. I also love the fact that you don’t have to wait hours upon hours for the tan to develop. It has a lovely golden colour that looks really natural.
Hair Care
Charles Worthington Colour Enhancer Ultra Violet Shampoo Max Strength
This is quite a new discovery as I’ve only been using it for a couple of months. I bought it on recommendation for someone I know who swears by it. I double shampoo so I use another shampoo before this one, then put it on and leave it for 3-5 minutes. If you aren’t careful it will stain your hands purple. I find that it gets rid of brassy yellow tones and leaves my hair looking nice and ashy.
L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil
I think I have been using this oil for about 18 months now. As I have bleach highlights my hair needs all the help it can get in staying healthy and manageable. I notice a difference if I don’t use it as it really seems to make my hair softer and smoother. It doesn’t make it feel greasy and it helps it to dry faster.
Make Up
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette
I never really got excited about the release of this palette and was quite late buying in. What put me off was that I just didn’t think it would suit me. Personally I thought I would be too pale and that it would look better on someone with dark hair and olive skin. I happened to watch a Youtube video (I forgot who) where it was being worn by someone with more my colouring and it looked great. If I bought it and didn’t like it thought I could always give it to my sister. It has turned out to be my most used palette and my go to for creating looks this autumn and winter.
Collection Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
This concealer is another of my long term beauty favourites. It has been in my makeup bag for about 18 months now (obviously not the same one) after my sister introduced me to it. The formula is spot on and it doesn’t go dry and cakey under my eyes. I love how it brightens the whole area and masks and imperfections.
