I am back with another tanning post, I just can’t help myself. My favourite tanning brand Skinny Tan have launched a new product and this time it’s a spray tan in the form of the Salon Effects Spray. Skinny Tan very kindly sent me the spray tan to review.
Salon Effects Spray
This tan in a can is a professional airbrush tanning spray that you can use in the comfort of your own home. It contains aloe vera, moisturising glycerin, vitamin E and Q10 which have antioxidant benefits and guarana for firming.
I used to have spray tans every couple of weeks and did this for years. They have the advantage of being able to hit those hard to reach areas and give you a nicer finish on your hands and feet. It will be interesting to see how I get on using a spray tan that you apply yourself.
Directions
I exfoliated beforehand using the Skinny Tan Pre-Tan Primer. This was originally gifted to me but I have just re-purchased it. I swear by it now as an exfoliator and it creates an amazing base for fake tan. Then I lightly moisturise my knees and elbows as tan tends to cling there.
You are then supposed to hold the can 20 centimetres away from your skin and spray while moving your hand from side to side. The tan is coloured so you will be able to see where you have been. Any overspray can be corrected using a tanning mitt to blend. One the tan dries you can get dressed.
How I Got On
I used the salon effects spray to tan my legs first because I thought it would give me a chance to get used to it before tanning my upper body. I completely misjudged 20 centimetres and held the can too close which caused over spray. Once I got the hang of moving the spray it was very easy to create an even layer using the guide colour.
Once the tan was dry I was able to get dressed for an outfit shoot. You just have to make sure that you avoid contact with water for 6-8 hours while the tan develops. The tan developed into a golden brown
