Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

I haven’t worn mascara in years, at least seven I think. To be fair I do use mascara on my bottom lashes occasionally but when I say I haven’t used it, I mean for my top lashes. I’ve been wearing lash extensions for what feels like forever. I love the fact they save me time as I don’t need to worry about putting mascara on and taking it off. The length you can achieve is also a massive plus. I recently joined Influenster and have just received my first complementary Vox Box containing the Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Mascara. I actually can’t wait to try it, but it’s going to take a lot to impress me!

Velvet Noir Mascara

The mascara promises to give lashes up to 1800% more volume with the look of false lashes. I feel like if there is a mascara that can match up to my extensions then this is it. Although I’m unsure how I’m going to judge if my lash volume has increased by 1800%.

Packaging

The tube has a chunky design in look and feel. It feels expensive, maybe more so than its £18 price tag.

Brush

The brush has a curvy, hourglass shape which ensures that all of the lashes are coated, not just the ones in the centre. The tip helps you define the hard to reach corners with most of the volume being placed at the centre lash line.

Formula

It is jet black which is just what you want. The formula itself is very wet so I was worried that it would clump my lashes together but that didn’t seem to be a problem. The only issue I found was if I blinked too hard before it was dry I ended up getting it on my lower lid.

Testing

I didn’t realise how out of practice I was at putting mascara on! I did make a bit of a mess the first time by getting it on my eyelid. I’ve worn it all day and haven’t experienced any smudging or flaking. I even wore it on my bottom lashes too without any problems. I felt that two coats were enough otherwise my lashes may have started to look clumpy.

I’m not sure you can see the full effect in the photo. I can’t say my lashes have 1800% more volume with the mascara, but they’re definitely longer and thicker with the mascara than without.

Would I buy this mascara? Yes I definitely would. I think the price is reasonable, I love the packaging and it does what it says on the tin!

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are honest.
