How Blogging Has Affected My Life

I have been writing Life’s a Catwalk for four years now. When I look back over that time so much has changed and a lot of that is down to blogging. I honestly can’t think of any negative points I’ve experienced blogging, but I have a few positives for you.

Changes To My Life

Career

Four years ago I was working full-time in a veterinary referral hospital. I was set in my ways and assumed I would probably be working there until the end of time. When I began blogging it was a creative outlet that allowed me to babble on about fashion without boring the people around me. I quickly realised how much I loved writing and pretty much straight away I was given the chance to write for a fashion magazine. Blogging opened up a whole new world to me and gave me the opportunity to pursue other things. Within four months I left my reliable job to become self-employed as a writer and social media manager. I have previously written what I’ve learnt since I became self employed.

Friends

I have made some amazing friends through blogging. ‘Normal’ people don’t always understand blogging. They don’t get our need to photograph our food or the fact we want to stand out in the street to get the perfect shot of our outfits. A lot of these people I have met through the Camb Meet Up group and they have become true friends. I know that when we are out and about together we will always have a great time and if I needed it they would always be there to support me.

Confidence

To be honest I’ve never really been lacking in confidence. However, since blogging I will quite happily rock up to an event where I don’t know anyone. I’m not phased by walking into a room of complete strangers particularly at a blogging event. I know we will at least have that in common. I’m now also more than happy to do outfit photos in public as passersby look on with confused expressions. I am quite surprised by this as I’m not 100% comfortable in front of the camera. You could argue in some respects I have possibly become over-confident given the amount of times I have changed my outfit in the street.
