My Five Favourite Fashion Brands That Give Back

If you know me well you will know that when it comes to fashion I prefer to spend more and buy less. Obviously this isn’t always possible but I will save up for pieces as much as I can as I’m not exactly a big fan of fast fashion. There are more and more brands who are becoming away for the impact that we as consumers have on the environment and they are doing their best to give something back. I have put together five of my favourite fashion brands that do just that.

Fashion Brands

TenTree

Tentree sells womenswear, menswear and accessories. For every item sold at least 10 trees are planted in areas that need it. The trees they plant will outlive the products bought and on top of that the trees will propagate seedlings which then turn into more trees. As well as reforestation Tentrees also works to promote fair labour and safe working conditions and they have ensured that their environmental footprint is kept to a minimum.

TOMS

I think that everyone has heard of this brand. With every product purchased, TOMS help a person in need by providing shoes for toddlers to teens and help provide access to safe water. They also help restore sight through surgery, prescription glasses and medical treatment. Purchase of TOMS Bags help provide training for skilled birth attendants and materials that help women to give birth safely.

Mahi Leather

Mahi Leather make leather bags to order and ship directly to you cutting out the middle man. As everything is made to order it prevents unnecessary waste and the leather may be sourced as a by product of the meat industry. $1.50 from the purchase of each bag goes to FRANK Water, a UK based charity which has helped over 300,000 people gain access to clean water.

Gandy’s

Another brand I think people will have heard of is Gandy’s. It was founded by two brothers who lost their parents in the Boxing Day Tsunami that hit Sri Lanka. The brand was founded to support the brothers Orphans for Orphans foundation. 10% of the profits went towards building a children’s home which opened at the end of 2014. It has since expanded and now their aim is to open children’s homes all over the world.

We Wood Watches

WeWood Watches plant a tree for every watch purchased. The watches are made using material that would otherwise be thrown away which makes them eco friendly. Their goal is to plant 100 million trees by 2020!

Can you recommend any fashion brands who give back that I should check out?
