My Top Five Outfits From 2016

2016 was the year that I really started to post pictures of myself on the blog. It was always something that I tended to avoid purely because I hate having my photo taken. By doing outfit photos it actually inspired me to try and get the most out of my wardrobe rather than sticking to the same couple of outfits all the time. After all who actually has the funds to splash out on new outfits continuously?!

I thought for my final post of 2016 I would take a look back through the year and bring you my five favourite outfits.

Outfit Five – Embroidered Skirt

This outfit featured in my how to wear embroidery post and it was actually quite a different look for me. I generally avoid skirts and patterned pieces but I’m keen for the weather to get warmer so I can revisit this look. I also like how it looks with the camel coat which also turned out to be a great investment for me this year.

Skirt – New Look

Coat – Topshop (similar)

Boots – All Saints

Outfit Four – Military Style Dress

I had my eye on this dress for a while before I bought it. I also normally steer clear of dresses for day wear but made an exception here. I tend to find that day dresses never fit me very well, clinging in some places and bagging in others. The military style of this dress means that it is more tailored to my body shape particulary with the belt so I can cinch in the waist and create a bit more shape. I haven’t got a huge amount of wear out of it as I bought it at the end of the season but again as soon as the weather is a bit warmer I can drag it back out of my wardrobe.

Jumper – Reiss

Dress – Karen Millen

Boots – All Saints

Bag – Ted Baker (alternative)

Outfit Three – Bronze Skirt

I wore this dress to the CambMeetUp #ChristmasBloggersBash and bought it especially for this occasion. Pleated skirts were everywhere this season and they are so easy to wear for so many occasions. The skirt is such a great piece to have as a standby outfit for those times when you get a last minute invitation to an event. You will also notice that my All Saints boots have appeared yet again! They have probably been my best buy this year, an unsung hero that finishes off any outfit beautifully.

Knitted Body – Missguided

Skirt – John Lewis

Boots – All Saints

Jacket – Asos (alternative)

Outfit Two – Faux Fur Coat

I fell in love with this Karen Millen coat the moment I saw it (unfortunately it is no longer available). I know it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but to me it is perfect. I am always looking for those pieces that stand out a little bit and like to try and look a little bit different. It is perfect for those all black outfits and it is such a great statement piece. I can wear it during the day and throw it on in the evening over a dress.

Coated Jeans – New Look

Boots – All Saints

Outfit One – Polka Shirt and A Line Midi

I have owned both these pieces for more years than I care to remember but had never thought to pair them together until the summer. I think this was shot on my very first day of attempting outfit photos and it remains a firm favourite. I would even go as far to say that I think this was my favourite outfit of the year. I got to wear my Jimmy Choos which were a treat to myself and attempt to look girly which just isn’t me at all. This outfit shoot gave me the confidence to carry keep posting pictures of myself on the blog.

I hope to create even more outfit posts next year from so many different locations. Do you have a favourite outfit you like to wear again and again?
