On Sunday I pottered over to Cambridge for the Christmas Bloggers Bash organised by Camb Meet Up Founder Pippa (Clashing Time) and Sophie (Sophie Kate). The event was held at Novi on Regent Street in their cocktail bar. I had never been to Novi before but it turned out to be the perfect venue (just watch out for the really low light bulbs).
For the rest of this year and next the Camb Meet Up group will be working with Jimmy’s Night Shelter to give something back to the city. Barry from Jimmy’s came to speak to us about the brilliant work they do supporting and providing beds for the homeless. There was a raffle with some amazing prizes which raised over £200 for this great charity. Some of these prizes included photography courses from Jessops, tickets for ice skating, spray tans, Kiehls products, Macadamia Natural oil products, tickets for Beauty and the Beast and much more.
Dean from Jessops on Fitzroy Street was there to talk about the services that they offer like lessons on how to get the most out of your camera. They also have a blogger pack which includes a reflector (perfect for making the most of what little light we have at this time of year), a tripod and a Manfrotto light.
Claire from Origins on Rose Crescent was also there with delicious ginger smelling products and giving relaxing hand massages. We even had some of the brands popular Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask in our goodie bags. She was also inviting bloggers along for a mini facial which you may remember me reviewing during Blogtober.
We were lucky to have fabulous bloggers Danielle (Fashionista Barbie) and Sophia (Sophia Meola) come to talk to us about blogging. It was so inspiring to hear about the success they have had and how they got to where they are now. It was nice to be able to get some top tips on how to work with brands, goal setting and advice on social media.
Between each talk we had 10-15 minutes to network which I ended up being pretty rubbish at. I generally spent the time catching up with ‘old’ faces mainly because it has been months since I have seen some people. This meant that I didn’t really give myself the chance to meet any new ones. Epic blogger fail on my part!
I would like to say a big thank you to Pippa and Sophie for taking the time to plan this great event for us. Everything about the afternoon was so well thought out! Not only did I come away with a lovely goodie bag and my raffle prize of Macadamia Natural Oil products but I also came away feeling happier and with more confidence in my blog. I am now inspired to power through the rest of Blogmas and maybe even approach some brands that I would love to work with!
