Every Christmas I always have festive nails ready for the big day. This year I’m a bit quick off the mark as I’ve just got them done, probably a little bit early, but I’m confident that they will last. I always go to my sister to get my nails done and I know that she is super busy the nearer we get to Christmas and New Year. Another reason for having them done early is that the #CambMeetUp Christmas Bloggers Bash is on Sunday and my nails were at that slightly chipped, rather grown out stage so waiting wasn’t really an option.
The freezing cold weather is already playing havoc with my hands. My skin does tend to get a little dry in winter but that is nothing compared to what happens to my hands. They become very dry and rough to the point that the skin will painfully crack open. Normally I wait until they are horrific, but this time I’m hoping to catch them before they get to bad and treat them to a little TLC.
I used my Soap and Glory exfoliator, I really like this one as it has such a gritty, grainy texture and I feel like it is polishing my skin every time I use it. I then grabbed by Crabtree & Evelyn hand cream and applied a generous layer. I’m not normally a big fan of hand cream just because I hate my skin feeling greasy and I always feel like I can’t touch anything or pick things up. I’m going to try and keep this little routine up and do it twice a week throughout winter in the hope that my hands aren’t so sore.
When it came to getting my nails done I was spoilt for choice. Abi suggested layering two different Shellac colours to create a new shade so we went for Dark Lava with Ruby Ritz on top. I love that they still look dark, which is what I wanted, but still have that festive look. After all, Christmas nails always need to be glittery!
