Origins Review

Yesterday you will have seen that I pottered over to Cambridge for a mini facial at Origins. I had been looking forward to it as it’s the perfect way to end a busy week. This was the first time I had been in the Origins store which has only been on Rose Crescent for three months. I have never used Origins products before either so it really was a day of firsts.

The session began with a skin consultation where I was asked about my skin type, if I had any skin problems and what I was hoping to gain from a facial. I have always been lucky in that I’ve never really suffered with spots. I do find that my T zone is slightly oiler but generally the rest of my face tends to be quite dry. My current skincare regime is a bit hit and miss as I sporadically apply moisturiser using whatever product I tend to be reviewing at the time. I am conscious now that I’m 30 that I should be looking after my skin a lot better as I really don’t want to end up with wrinkles. I’m hoping to achieve a soft, radiant looking complexion that really feels hydrated.

I was sat in the middle of the store next to the most amazing sink I have ever seen, it was so big I could have had a bath in it! You are also perfectly positioned to be able to enjoy a stunning view from the window. Don’t worry you don’t feel self conscious and other shoppers can’t see you as they pass the store. Claire, who was very kindly doing my facial, selected a range of products that would suit my needs and that I would realistically incorporate into a skincare routine.

She used:

GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser

The cleanser is energising and exfoliating to give you smoother, brighter skin. It will be perfect for when I have just got up as the scent of grapefruit, lemon and spearmint is so refreshing and awakening.

Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion

I find that some exfoliators leave your skin feeling really tight and a tad sensitive as you frantically feel the need to get moisture back into it. This product is not like that, it’s actually really comfortable while still leaving your skin smooth and fresh.

Original Skin Essence Lotion

This refines your pores and hydrates for smoother, brighter skin.

Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask

The mask can be used twice a week, or whenever you want really. You just have to massage it into your skin and leave it for half an hour and before dabbing off any excess with a tissue if you are worried about getting it on your pillow. It has such a delicious scent that I really want to eat it (not advised).

Original Skin Renewal Serum

De-stresses skin, restores glow, helps with dullness and so much more! Wearing this under your moisturiser gives a vibrant glow.

Mega Bright Dark Circle Minimiser

Oil free moisturiser which works to minimise dark circles, restore brightness and provide UV protection with SPF30.

High Potency Night-A-Mins

Contains Vitamins E,C and H along with minerals and moisture replenishers so you wake up with radiant skin.

006

While the mask was on I was treated to a relaxing hand massage with Ritualitea Oolong-La Purifying Cleansing Body Mask which has the delicious scent of black tea and chai spices, it smells really festive and luxurious.

I actually learned a lot during my facial. Claire explained what each product did and why she was using it. I also learned that it isn’t just what you are putting on your skin but how you are applying it. Each product should be moisturised in to help it become absorbed.

I came away with a selection of samples of the products used and I will definitely be going back for the full sized products!

I started using Origins earlier in year after a friends recommendation. I am now addicted.

Ah! I need to visit the Origins store–I’ve always just shopped via their counter in John Lewis! Do let us know how you get on with the products you’re sampling.
