Getting your blog posts out there is a big part of being a blogger. Today I’ve decided to share with you what I do to promote my posts and what I find most effective.
Bitly and Buffer
I have always used both of these tools since I began blogging. Bitly shortens links which makes them look much neater when you promote posts. Buffer is the tool I use for scheduling on my social media platforms if I know I will be away from my laptop. It’s great as I know my posts will still be getting out there and then I can just monitor any notifications on my phone. I allow Buffer to select the times that the posts will go live using their optimal timing tool.
Twitter was my go to when it came to promoting my posts as I found that I was reaching a lot more people through this platform. If I am working with a brand or happen to feature a brand in my post then I always make sure I tag them first. There are various groups on Twitter who will retweet your content to their followers, and the ones that I have found most effective are:
@WeAreThirtyPlus (also use #30plusblogs)
@blogginggals (use #blogginggals)
You can also join in on Twitter chats which tend to have a topic like ‘how to take better blog photos’. At one point I was taking part in them every night but it just got a bit much. Obviously it depends what you blog about to what chats you would like to take part in but if I do take part in any now it tends to be:
Monday – #BDIB 7-8pm and #Fbloggers 8-9pm
Tuesday – #FBLchat 8-9pm
Thursday – #Fbloggers 8-9pm
Friday – #BDIB 8-9pm
Saturday – #FBLchat 3-4pm
I never used to use Facebook at all when it came to promoting posts. I have a Facebook page for my blog but generally find that friends and family follow rather than blog readers. I feel like it isn’t a huge benefit to my blog but I still carry on with it regardless as I think it would be odd not to have it now. In the last few months I have joined various blogging groups on Facebook which has massively contributed to my views, more so that Twitter now. I tend to only promote a post once but they are also great for getting advice and speaking to like minded people.
The best pages I have come across for this are:
FBL: Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Bloggers
Fashion Style and Beauty Bloggers Group
Beauty, Fashion and Lifestyle Bloggers Group
Fashion Bloggers
With social media it is all about staying active and engaging with other, but without spamming people with posts. I also have Pinterest and Instagram accounts but don’t really tend to use them to promote my posts. If anyone has a post on this or knows of any posts then please leave the link in the comments as I would love to read it!
Thank you so much for sharing with us these tips!
I am also a fashion blogger (just relaunched my blog in September ’16) and I have just A LOT to work in order to get reach and popularity. Tough way…Maybe you can have a look and let me know your opinion 🙂

Diana

Thanks for the tips! I never really thought about promoting on Facebook before, will have a look at the groups out there. I find chats really good to promote your blog.
