I am actually hopeless when it comes to makeup, just ask my sister. To be honest I just can’t be bothered with it. I feel like wearing it daily is a waste of time as I’m self employed and my office is in my home. I don’t want to waste good makeup on an insignificant day. If I’m going out with friends or to an event then I will make an effort to look half decent, but that’s about it.
This lead on to me thinking about how maybe it’s time that I made more effort with my appearance. I’m starting off with a bit of an overhaul and will be picking products that will be perfect for this season while still looking fresh faced.
Base
I’m naturally really pale (unless I have a spray tan) so finding a base that suits my skintone has never gone well. I have been wearing a Rimmel BB cream with a Clinique concealer but they are both just too orange and take a hell of a lot of blending to be remotely wearable. With this in mind I paid Debenams in the Arc, Bury St Edmunds, a visit so I could check out the Urban Decay counter.
The girl I spoke to was brilliant. I explained I rarely wear makeup and that I was after foundation with quite light coverage and she matched the perfect product. I also said that I was after a concealer for under my eyes which tend to look quite blue so she selected a light warm concealer. I came away with Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup in 0.1 and the weightless complete coverage concealer in light warm.
Contour/ Blush
I always lightly contour with the Sleek Makeup Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette pressed powder and give my cheeks a touch of colour with Nars Orgasm.
Brows
I always have my brows tinted but where there is less hair I often have to fill in. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in caramel.
Eyes
I prefer a nude look for day time so I went for my Maybelline The Nudes palette. I wear lash extensions so I don’t need to wear mascara but I do apply a little Givenchy mascara in black taffeta to my bottom lashes.
Lips
I always think that you should wear a lip liner if you are going to wear lipstick. I wanted to go for a brown shade so chose the Rimmel Exaggerate full colour lip liner in 018 addiction and the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in 03.
