Top Five Autumn Wardrobe Staples

While I love a hot summer, autumn is probably my favourite season. The clothes are just so much better with the rich tones, layering, faux fur and a deeper floral print. Now that the weather has noticeably changed and there is more of a chill in the air I have been giving more thought to my autumn/ winter wardrobe. So with this in mind I thought I would share with you what I will mostly be wearing this season.

These photos were taken seconds before it rained, in the weirdest light when it was both bright and dark. I can just tell outfit photos this season are going to be a challenge!

Dark Denim

To be honest I live in jeans all year round what ever the weather (yes I roasted a bit when it was 30 degrees) but colder weather calls for darker denim. I tend to stick to lighter, more bleached denim in the summer months so a switch to more indigo denim is a welcome change. Skinny jeans are still the one for me particularly as I like to roll up the hem with ankle boots or tuck them into over knee boots.

Fine Knits

My vest tops are long gone but I don’t want to break out the chunky knits just yet so fine knits are making their way into my wardrobe.

Over Knee Boots

These black suede over knee boots are at least seven years old and are starting to show a bit of wear now but I absolutely love them. I wore over knee boots a lot last autumn/ winter and it’s definitely a trend I see being popular again this season. They are so easy to style and look great dressed up or down. Personally I prefer a high heel as they lengthen my legs and make for a nicer silhouette.

Camel Coat

I own quite a lot of coats, mainly in bold colurs and prints, which seems like a good idea at the time (I’m not one to blend in) but means that they don’t go with a huge amount. This season I have gone for this double breasted camel coat from Topshop which is more of a classic. The colour means it will match the majority of my wardrobe without having to be black.

Cross Body Bag

You may have seen this bag popping up a lot in my posts recently. I normally always carry handbags in the crook of my arm but this season I’m going hands free. I feel like this bag from Ted Baker is going to be a great investment for autumn/ winter. I love the structured shape and chain shoulder strap. It also holds everything I need without being too bulky.

I would love to know what pieces you are coveting this season. Do you think I have missed anything?
