SS16 Trend Watch | Stripes

One of my favourite trends this season has to be stripes because for once it is a look that slots easily into my wardrobe. I’m not really one for much of a floral print and the off the shoulder look just doesn’t suit my body shape. It doesn’t matter if the stripes are horizontal, vertical, or diagonal there is definitely a stripe to suit you. I love that you can use them to create optical illusions whether it’s to make you look taller, direct focus, or balance out your frame.

Classic breton navy and white.

An easy go to outfit that always looks stylish. The nautical themed top will slot easily into your existing wardrobe guaranteeing you lots of wear.

Primary colours

Try introducing a little colour with some primary shades. Different thicknesses of stripes often looks better than stripes that are the same width so this tee dress is spot on.

Experiment with accessories

If striped clothing isn’t for you then how about striped accessories? I love a pair of statement shoes and this pair from Sophia Webster will instantly update your look, the higher the heel the better as far as I’m concerned! You can also try a pointed pair of pumps for a more relaxed look. I’m trying to get into wearing flat shoes but we have never really bonded, I don’t find them comfortable for some reason. Is this just me?

Go graphic

Now these striped pieces have to be my favourite. I love anything that makes you stand out from the crowd and there is no risk of blending into the background here. If you are feeling brave then try injecting a hit of colour into your wardrobe.

You may notice in the coming weeks that my blog will change slightly. I am in the process of working out which direction I want to take it in which is actually harder than I thought. I keep having so many different ideas and have no clue which ones to use!
