Looking Back at 2015 on the Blog

I am straying a little with today’s topic but as we come towards the end of the year I have been considering my little blog and the opportunities it has given me these past 12 months. I started blogging in 2013 and pretty much took a whole year off in 2014, so 2015 has been my favourite blogging year so far – probably by default.

Alice, Me, and Olivia at the #CambMeetUp.

The best thing that has come out of my blog this year has to be the amazing group of people I have met who share the same ‘hobby’ as me. I had already met Alice and Pippa through Cambridge Style Week so when Pippa arranged the #CambMeetUp back in March I jumped at the chance to attend. It was great to meet so many new people who I am pleased to call my friends, especially the lovely Emma who I would be lost without now!

This year I have also had the chance to work with more brands such as Mr Nutcase, Firmoo, Breo Official, Joules, Luxemme, and Farfetch just to name a few. It’s lovely to feel like my blog has been noticed especially when I have been putting more time into it.

It has also been a year of learning. I previously felt that I had to stick rigidly to fashion but if I have something to say why can’t I just say it? After all this is my own little space online. It is also easy to become focused on stats particularly when you are putting more work into your blog and you see them rise. I have come to realise they don’t matter as much as I thought they would.

I started Blogmas mainly as a challenge to myself to see if I had the ability to come up with content everyday for a month. I won’t lie, I haven’t found it really easy. I am self employed which generally means there is no escape from work and if I don’t get it done I don’t get paid. This month I learned to make the best use of my time and be more efficient, something which I think will continue to help me day to day. However, I do feel with things like Blogmas that you are churning out content for the sake of it. It has made a nice change and been fun for a one off but I would hate to always be blogging everyday. After all, quality over quantity.

I have been looking towards next year and where I see my blog going. While I still want to be a fashion blog if there is something else I want to cover then I will……. Life’s a Catwalk finds fashion in food maybe? 😉 Why can’t I find fashionable aspects to other things in life?
