Every shopping centre has its own Father Christmas in head to toe red, shaking his belly like a bowl full of jelly (you know how it goes). However, Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto is a little bit different.
Instead, Yorkdale are bringing us Fashion Santa who is rather more slimline, dressed in designer menswear, and comes complete with the latest accessories and a real beard! Decked out in Burberry, Givenchy, and Salvatore Ferragamo, Fashion Santa is actually called Paul Mason and he has been in the modelling industry for 30 years.
Many people have been complaining that by giving good ole Saint Nick a hipster makeover Yorkdale are ruining Christmas but I just think you have to accept it for what it is; a brilliant marketing campaign. Fashion Santa’s wardrobe is all available in the mall and thanks to thousands of selfies all over social media he is receiving worldwide publicity.
Yorkdale have entered into the true spirit of Christmas by donating $1 to the Sick Kids Foundation, up to $10,000, each time a selfie is taken and shared on social media with the hashtag #YorkdaleFashionSanta, so it can’t all be bad.
He will be appearing in the Shopping Centre throughout December so if you’re local get yourself over there. If you have had the chance to meet him then I *need* to see your selfies!
Now the question is what do you leave out for Fashion Santa when he visits?
