It has been six months since I started my 30 before 30 and to be honest I thought I would be further along than I am. By my three month update I had completed six things off my list and come the start of August I hadn’t ticked anything else off, so this past month has been a bit of a rush.
The main thing I have done this month is to fulfill treating myself to something designer. When I was employed I would occasionally buy a designer bag but having been self employed for two years I have become very careful with money, rarely buying anything at all. I have never really splashed out on expensive shoes so I had a good browse of the Manolo, Louboubin, and Jimmy Choo websites. I immediately fell in love with the Jimmy Choo Addison Nude Mirror Pumps. I haven’t worn them out yet but I think they will look great with everything.
I can also tick off completing my #100happydays. About a year ago I tried but would forget to do it everyday so the idea was abandoned. I actually found it much easier this time and it’s nice to look back and see everything I have done however small.
I finally tried sushi! I was in Cambridge so I made a little trip to Itsu and had salmon sushi and salmon and avocado maki rolls as well as gyoza vegetable dumplings. I know people who only have the vegetarian option which I think defeats the object a little bit, unless of course you are actually vegetarian. I would definitely have it again, it was delicious!
The thing I thought would be quite challenging for a social media addict is to turn off the internet for 24hours. I struggled straight away, picking up my phone multiple times to check Facebook and Twitter. I also chose a really bad day to do it – Bank Holiday Monday. The weather was awful so I couldn’t go out for a run and rainy days normally mean lounging in bed with Netflix and internet shopping. Anyway, my house ended up tidier than it has been in ages, I wrote blog posts with good old fashioned pen and paper, and I read so it wasn’t all bad. It’s good to switch off every once in a while and it’s actually been quite refreshing so I think I will regularly do it.
I am still a long way off from completing my 30 aims but I am determined to do it. I would love to know if you are doing your 30 before 30 so please leave your links in the comments or tweet me!
