Fashion e-tailer Net-a-Porter will be branching out from the world of fashion by adding a beauty site from March 20th.
This collection will be featured alongside their fashion category and shall consist of carefully selected makeup, nail polishes, skin care products, hair products as well as fragrances. A range of brands will be available that will include Aesop, Chantecaille, Le Metier de Beaute, Beauty Works West, Sarah Chapman and James Read, with aim to add further brands each week. This new contribution will be found under the tagline “Beauty-The Quintessential Edit”.
Net-a-Porter have long featured beauty in their online magazine and so running a beauty site seems to be a natural progression for the company. They will be under stiff competition from existing beauty companies such as Sephora who are a successful well known online brand, but they believe that they have a unique offering as fashion and beauty are combined on the same site. This will allow visitors to not only select their outfits and matching handbags, but also to carefully select co-ordinating makeup and nail polish to complete their chosen look.
Personally I anticipate that this move will be a big success for Net-a-Porter as they have such a loyal following, who can now have all of their needs met under the one roof.
